Rules: V1.0.1

September 11, 2026

General

  1. At the beginning of the season a calendar will be made with each week’s objective, level cap, Pokémon team size, and possible unique rule for the week.
  2. The competitor’s objective for the week is to complete the calendar objective, within the game. Every week the objective will be related to a specific Pokémon battle.
  3. While completing the objective for the week, you must complete it with the same team that you will compete with. This team must adhere to all rules presented by these rules or the calendar rules.
  4. Within the games competitors will receive Rare Candies to quickly assemble their teams. This is done to increase the variety of used Pokémon throughout the season. With the ability to freely level Pokémon, there is a level cap that must be adhered to.
  5. Before completing the objective for the week, be sure that the moves and items on your Pokémon are correct.
  6. After completing the objective the following steps you should take is submitting your screenshot and submitting your team code to the GM. Submitting your information results in your team being “Locked In”.
  7. No Glitches, Exploits, or Cheats are allowed to be used. The only exception that is allowed, is the code used to provide Rare Candies.

Locking in your team.

  1. No further changes can be made to the team after lock in. This means that no Pokémon moves or items can be changed. Be sure to make note of your Pokémon’s Nature and Ability here. Additionally, no items can be modified on your team. They should be assigned prior to “Lock In”.
  2. When submitting your team, the order of the team submitted does not dictate the order used in battle. It is at your discretion to assemble your team in the order you desire.
  3. Each Pokémon will be assigned a value prior to the season beginning. This value is known as the “Base Stat Total Points” or “BSTP”. Pokémon with higher Average Base Stats are worth less BSTP, while Pokémon with lower averages will have higher BSTPs.

Items

  1. No duplicate items are allowed on your Pokémon team for a given week.
  2. All berries are free to use, these can be assigned post “Lock In” due to them being available to everyone. The berries must also adhere to the no duplicate rule.
  3. If a duplicate item is used in a match, the match it was used in will be forfeited and counted as a loss by the competitor who used the duplicate item. Following the forfeiture of the match the competitor with the duplicate items must remove the duplicate item from their team.

Prepare to battle.

  1. When the group meets to battle be sure to have your team ready on the desired Pokémon Battle platform. Specifics regarding how a team should be set up will be discussed before competition begins.
  2. Things you will need to know when making your team: the moveset, the natures, and the ability.
  3. Season to Season could affect how the team will need to be set on the battle platform.
  4. If you need to be absent or late, please notify the GM as soon as possible to reschedule. This will never affect your championship standings.

Battle in a Round Robin Format.

  1. All Competitors will battle each other once every week.
  2. After each battle the winner of the match will be required to download and post the HTML file of the match, as a record of the match.
  3. If you miss a battle you will have an opportunity to schedule the battle with the opponent you missed. This must be done within a timely matter, to not hold up the scoring and season schedule.
  4. If you choose not to battle it will be counted as a loss for you and a win for your opponent.
  5. The goal is to ensure that all battles are fought and not counted against you if possible.

Scoring

  1. The core of the championship is gaining points. Points are gained by winning a battle against your opponents.

  2. When you lose a match you will gain no points for the match.

  3. With the use of our team builder, it will assign your team a BSTP according to the following set based on a Pokémons total points.

    Point Range Count
    1 580 - 720
    3 500 - 523
    4 483 - 499
    2 525 - 567
    5 464 - 482
    6 425 - 461
    7 405 - 424
    8 355 - 401
    9 323 - 352
    10 300 - 320
    11 273 - 299
    12 180 - 270
  4. When you win a match you will gain your team’s BSTP to your championship total points.

  5. After all battles have concluded the total value should be your team’s BSTP multiplied by your wins for the week.

Penalties

Below is a list of actions that result in penalties being awarded. The goal is to both promote different styles of play without any one defined meta.

  1. Duplicate Pokémon is defined as multiple of the same Pokémon in the same week. Using duplicate Pokémon is allowed and does not incur a penalty. This means that you can use the same Pokémon on the same team multiple times in the same week. For example if week 3 team contains 3 Blazikens, all three Blazikens are worth their full value.

  2. Repeated Pokémon are Pokémon that are used in previous weeks. Every time a Pokémon is repeated from a past week a counter will be applied to it according to the number of weeks it was used. This counter applies an increasing point reduction percent for each of the same Pokémon. This penalty will reduce a Pokémon’s points down to 1 point. For longer seasons within the calendar there will be a designated reset week, where the counter will be reset to 0 and the Pokémon are worth full points. The formula for the penalty is as follows where nn is the number of weeks the Pokémon is used previously and pp is it’s BSTP.

    BSTP=max(1,p0.80n)BSTP=max(1, \lfloor{p \cdot 0.80^{n}}\rfloor)

Effectively, the Pokémon’s point value is reduced exponentially for each week the Pokémon is used, until it reaches 1 point. The calculated value is rounded down to give a non-decimal result for better scoring. For example if a Pokémon is 12 points the following would be a breakdown for it’s point value for a given week where when n=0n = 0 would be the first time it’s used.

    • p=12,n=0,120.800=12p = 12, n = 0, \lfloor12 \cdot 0.80^{0}\rfloor = 12
    • p=12,n=1,120.801=9p = 12, n = 1, \lfloor12 \cdot 0.80^{1}\rfloor = 9
    • p=12,n=2,120.802=7p = 12, n = 2, \lfloor12 \cdot 0.80^{2}\rfloor = 7
    • p=12,n=3,120.803=6p = 12, n = 3, \lfloor12 \cdot 0.80^{3}\rfloor = 6
    • p=12,n=7,120.807=2p = 12, n = 7, \lfloor12 \cdot 0.80^{7}\rfloor = 2

Rather than linearly reducing the points earned on repeated weeks, by exponentially reducing the points this results in the repeating the use of a Pokémon the first 3 weeks the most impactful. While also allowing Pokémon to retain some point value in the event that they are a significantly stronger Pokémon.

  3. Each week there is a level cap. This level cap is to provide a gradual power increase. If you exceed the cap, you will receive -9 Points from your total team BSTP per Pokémon over the level cap.

  4. Exceeding Pokémon party size, will result in an automatic forfeiture of your matches for the week.

  5. The penalty for not adhering to the rule for the week, with your team is as follows. Rules for the week will be shown on the season calendar, and designated at the beginning of the season. The specific Pokémon that breaks the rule for the week, will be worth 0 Points. For example, you used a Legendary Pokémon when I couldn’t now it is worth 0 Points

Victory!

You may be asking what you win. Well not much. It’s meant to be a friendly competition. However there are two things. You will be immortalized on our site for the season that you win. As well as the winner gets to select the next game that gets played from a specific list from the GM.

Code of Conduct

All players who agree to compete will be expected to adhere to all rules. This competition is meant to be fun. There is no money or valuable prize for winning. Being disrespectful or malicious towards anyone participating is prohibited. If anyone feels that someone has treated them poorly please contact the GM privately and the matter will be handled. Competitors who break this code of conduct will be notified of their actions and will receive a strike against them. We will be operating on three strikes and you will be removed permanently and not be welcomed back to participate. Once again this is meant to be a fun environment, with strong and friendly competition.

Everyone deserves respect. Play fair and good luck!

Final Notes

If there are any questions or concerns regarding any of the following just ask a question. The goal of the competition is to have some fun, in the form of Pokémon. It’s meant to be a friendly challenge where people bring odd combos of Pokémon to try to win. Competitive Pokémon always boils down to the same Pokémon with the same strategies. The goal is to see what new things arise in a competition that rewards not bringing the best of the best.

A lot of effort went into making the first official season. Thank you to the Stat Analyst for putting the website together. This website is awesome! It tracks battles, points, competitors and more stats than you will ever need.

Finally, my goal is to get a decent number of people participating. The more the merrier. As I have said, I want to see the weird Pokémon teams and strategies. Our test season included a Giratina Week 1, a Croconaw named Florida Man, and a leftover Snorlax that lived forever. To conclude my point, I would like to include as many friends as possible.
